Before joining the firm in 2023, Marina served as a Crown Prosecutor in Tonga, where she led numerous criminal trials involving serious offences such as sexual assault, fraud, and motor vehicle manslaughter. Her courtroom experience is backed by a strong track record of published trial decisions, reflecting her expertise and success in criminal litigation.
At Patel Nand Legal, Marina works closely with Radhe Nand, Ashneel Nand, and Shalvin Sharma across a broad range of legal areas. Her current practice includes criminal and family litigation, civil disputes, and select immigration matters. She has appeared in cases involving sexual assault, traffic offences, and migrant exploitation, and has handled family law matters including divorce, family protection, relationship property, custody, and adoption proceedings. Marina also assists with civil disputes relating to contracts and employment, and supports immigration appeals and ministerial direction applications alongside Radhe.
Originally from Tonga, Marina is a qualified lawyer in her home jurisdiction and is currently working toward admission in New Zealand. She is fluent in Tongan and is committed to delivering culturally sensitive and accessible legal services to the firm’s diverse client base.
