Shalvin is a Senior Solicitor at Patel Nand Legal, having joined the firm in June 2021 as a law graduate. He was admitted to the bar in March 2022 and quickly distinguished himself through his strong work ethic, competitive mindset, and commitment to delivering exceptional legal outcomes. In recognition of his contributions, he was promoted to Senior Solicitor in March 2024.
With a core focus on litigation, Shalvin’s practice spans family law, criminal defence, civil and insolvency litigation, employment disputes, relationship property, defamation, harassment, commercial law, and conveyancing. He has successfully defended serious criminal charges, obtained urgent family court orders, opposed and defended protection orders, and appeared in the High Court. He has also worked alongside senior counsel in appellate matters, including proceedings before the Supreme Court.
Shalvin is known for his pragmatic and strategic approach to advocacy. He is deeply committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for his clients and approaches each matter with purpose and precision, guiding clients through complex legal processes with clarity and determination.
He also guides and supports junior lawyers within the firm, offering practical insight and guidance drawn from his own journey in the legal space.
His professional discipline is shaped in part by his background as a former international footballer for Fiji, having competed across Asia, Europe, and the Pacific. This experience continues to inform his resilience, focus, and drive for excellence. Shalvin also contributes to the firms broaded mission through his involvement in community legal work and support for charitable organisations.
